Salt and Peppers

Everyone should collect something, right? When Jeremy and I moved to Pennsylvania, we started going to thrift stores, antique shops, and flea markets looking for little "extras" to decorate our first apartment.

Among other things, we started buying salt and pepper shakers---they are interesting, memorable, sometimes clever, and almost always cheap! Someday, I hope to give a dinner party and give every guest a different set of shakers at their plate.

Here is our growing collection thus far:

Decaf or regular? Two glass coffee pot salt and pepper shakers sitting on a hot plate.

Vintage mementos of Maine. Thrifted by my sister, Meredith. Thanks Mer!

Chang (left) and Kwang-se, the fated lovers whose story is painted on Blue Willow dinnerware. We use this set of salt and peppers everyday with my grandmother's Blue Willow dishes.

Ring! Ring! Early "magneto telephone" salt and peppers. Salt and pepper are stored in the gold  bells at the bottom.

Two hens. 1940s. Made in Japan.

Two Irish Post Boxes. A contemporary memento from my sister Jenna's 2010 trip to Ireland. Thanks Jen!
